Here’s something cool, shared with me by a coworker. Did you know that trees make you happy? A study from the University of Wisconsin showed that people who live among more trees are more happy. I know that I am! The researchers examined survey data in Wisconsin about mental health and well being, and they matched responses up with satellite data on tree cover. They found that “higher levels of green space were associated with lower symptoms of anxiety, depression and stress.” See the University’s article about the study here.
Also see a fun article about the study at Co.Exist, which looks like a really cool website for a lot of information like this. I’m going to have to check them out more! Happy earth day, folks! (Yeah, I know I’m a day late).
